Pioneer Prince was scratched today, not due to weather, but because he showed some soreness in his left front, although he had put in a good work prior and showed no lameness.
For the sake of the horse, he will be evaluated to determine if there are any underlying issues that need to be addressed before continuing with training.
We were able to catch the race, and the announcers mentioned his absence several times as he was anticipated to be highly competitive in the race.
