Adaay In Asia - Las Cienagas Stakes Result

Adaay In Asia did not run as we hoped today in the Las Cienagas at Santa Anita, finishing 7th. Ironically, the horse that won, Honey Pants, was a workmate for Simply Enchanting in a recent workout.

Follow-up Report

Adaay in Asia checked in seventh in her SoCal debut in today’s G3 Las Cienegas. Breaking alertly from post position 12, our mare was prominent for the first few strides before Kazushi Kimura took ahold attempting to get her some cover per instructions in the paddock from trainer Phil D’Amato. She wasn’t far off the pace, only three lengths off the leader as they hit the half-mile pole. As the field neared the dirt crossover, Adaay in Asia appeared to be looming with a nice run while wide but lacked the response needed as they straightened out in the stretch.

Jockey Kazushi Kimura shared his thoughts following the race. Our 5-year-old mare had a good trip behind the leaders but couldn’t quicken in the stretch. It is noteworthy that this was the mare’s first race since October and the D’Amato team certainly weren’t down on the performance after the race though we had been optimistic based off of her training leading up to this race.

We will see how our daughter of Adaay exits today’s race and report back with news from the barn in the coming days.
