Seismic Beauty Named Fastest Horse of the Week

Long may she reign! 

Seismic Beauty named Fastest Horse of the Week on Thoroughbred Daily News! 

(Okay, we already knew that. In fact, she's the fastest horse in North America so far this year, according to her Beyer speed rating of 110 in the Hirsch, which is faster than Sierra Leone, Thorpedo Anna or any other two-turn horse has been rated this year, of any age and of either sex!)

Stay sound and healthy, and keeping "making the ground shake," Beauty!

EDITED IN NOVEMBER TO ADD: 

Seismic Beauty's 110 Beyer was de-throned by Sovereighty in winning the Travers Stakes at Saratoga, and by other males later in the summer, but she remained the top Beyer of 110 run by a female classic/routing distance in North America in 2025. 

This later drew a lot of attention when she was sold in the F/T Night of Stars Sale on November 3, 2025 for $2,500,000. 

Seismic Beauty Dominates the G1 Clement Hirsch

Seismic Beauty once again “made the ground shake” as she outkicked a talented field of fillies in her first Grade 1 effort yesterday (Saturday, August 2, 2025). Breaking from the 1 hole, her devastating speed resulted in a wire-to-wire victory over top female competitors, notably a fast closing Kopion, who ran 2nd, and stablemate Richi. 

The effort earned her a guaranteed entry into this year’s Breeders Cup at Del Mar, the same track where she just triumphed. That path just might lead her into a showdown with the undisputed Queen of the female division — “the grizzly,” last year’s champion, Thorpedo Anna.  

The speed figures computed for the race were nothing short of dazzling:

E-speed figure: 113 - her third speed figure in a row over 100

Beyer speed figure: 110 - highest non-sprint speed figure of the year, male or female!

Horseracing Nation speed figure: 134! 

The partnership is understandably ecstatic about her performance and looking forward to a bright future, if all goes well in the months to come. 

HUGE GRADED STAKES WIN for Seismic Beauty!

Seismic Beauty absolutely dominated in the G2 Santa Margarita Stakes yesterday at Santa Anita, formerly won by such talents as Zenyatta, Azeri and Bayakoa! 

She hopped slightly at the start, but quickly recovered to take the lead and clear off. From that point, she looked like a winner every step of the way, doling out splits of :23.05, :46.25 and 1:09.84 before shrugging off favored stablemate Splendora en route to an open-length success.

We had high expectations for today, but it’s fair to say Seismic Beauty might have even exceeded those—that was as strong a performance as we could have hoped for and certainly puts her among the best distaffers in the country.

We’ll enjoy the excitement of today, see how she bounces out of it and start plotting a course towards the G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff.

Follow-up:

Seismic Beauty earned a 104 Beyer Speed Figure for Sunday's romp--that's the fastest figure run by a female this year at a route distance. 

Her E-speed figure coming out of the race yesterday was 106, but that could bounce around a bit in the next few days. We'll keep this post updated.

Seismic Beauty Update

Trainer Bob Baffert confirmed in a podcast interview that our big winner last week, Seismic Beauty, will be pointed to the Breeders Cup World Championships near the end of 2025. 

Exciting news, if she continues to train and run as she has been doing. 

Early on in her training, Bob said of this Uncle Mo filly, "The sky's the limit," and it's looking like his prediction might just be playing out. 

Her upcoming starts will show if she's on the right track. :)

Seismic Beauty Makes the Ground Shake!

At long last, Seismic Beauty, our daughter of Uncle Mo out of Medaglia d'Oro mare Knarsdale, won impressively going a mile around two turns! She left the field in the dust, finishing 10 lengths the better while geared down in the stretch. Her fractions and her speed figures were eye-popping. We can't wait to see where she's headed next, but strongly suspect it will be a stakes race.

Congratulations to all owners! Seismic Beauty was an extremely impressive winner in her first start around two turns this afternoon at Santa Anita. Your daughter of Uncle Mo broke to the front, cleared the field, and led every step of the way - setting impressive fractions of 22.67 and 45.91 before widening her lead around the far turn. She covered six-furlongs in 1:10.04 and blew the field away winning by as many as she wanted, stopping the clock for the mile distance in 1:36.87. 

Speed is certainly an impressive trait for an equine athlete, but speed that carries is a dangerous one, and that is what Seismic Beauty showed us she possesses today. We will let her bounce out of this race and convene with trainer Bob Baffert before deciding on where to point at next, but one would have to believe that stakes company awaits.

FOLLOW UP (Beyer speed figure):

Seismic Beauty earned a very strong 95 Beyer Speed Figure for Friday’s romp.

That’s a graded stakes-caliber number for sure. For context, yesterday’s longshot winner of the G3 Doubledogdare at Keeneland ran a 96. Horse of the Year Thorpedo Anna ran a 93 in last Saturday’s G1 Apple Blossom H. (We’re certainly not saying she’s better than Thorpedo Anna quite yet…).

We’ll have plenty of fun options to consider moving forward.

POST RACE UPDATE:

We checked in on Seismic Beauty this morning, April 20, at Santa Anita Park. 

Your daughter of Uncle Mo exited her dominating win in good physical order and the future looks bright. From the get-go, we all felt two turns was going to be the key for this filly and while it took a little longer than expected to finally get to see it, the wait was worth it. We’ll let Bob and his team get her back on the track in the coming week and begin putting together a plan for her.

Seismic Beauty Workout Report

Seismic Beauty breeze a half-mile in :48 flat this morning at Santa Anita Park. 

Per usual, our daughter of Uncle Mo worked by herself and did it handily. We hope to get Seismic Beauty stretched out around two turns next go around. The new condition book at Santa Anita is offering a first-level allowance going one mile on April 18th, but if that was not to go, trainer Bob Baffert is strongly considering shipping her to Churchill, if needed.

Seismic Beauty Entered

Seismic Beauty is entered on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Santa Anita, going 6-1/2 furlongs. Juan Hernandez Jr. will be in the irons. She'll be running in an Allowance Optional Claiming race with no tag and will be in Post #1. 

It's race 2 on the card scheduled for 1:33 PM Pacific / 2:33 PM Mountain.

Seismic Beauty Entered

We are thrilled to report Seismic Beauty has officially been entered for her return in Saturday's 8th race at Santa Anita Park. Our daughter of Uncle Mo drew post 7 (of 7) with Juan Hernandez returning to the irons. 

This looks like a great spot for Seismic Beauty and we can't wait to see her back in action. Post time is approximately 4:00 PM PT (5:00 PM MT).

Seismic Beauty Update

Seismic Beauty transitioned to Santa Anita Park last week and is doing well despite not breezing back this past Sunday. Trainer Bob Baffert is giving her time to acclimate to the Santa Anita surface again and we expect to see her breeze later this week.

Seismic Beauty Work Report

Seismic Beauty worked another nice half-mile this morning at Los Alamitos, this one in :49.80 by herself and without much encouragement. She was clocked in 1:02 1/5 for the five-furlong gallop out. Her breeze next week should come at five furlongs as she progresses towards a return to the races.

Seismic Beauty Back on the Work Tab

Seismic Beauty returned to jogging at Los Alamitos a few days ago as planned. Assistant trainer Mike Marlow reported your filly is doing well and will gradually pick up the pace over the coming weeks.

Seismic Beauty has a Minor Setback

Seismic Beauty came up with some warmth in a knee leading up to what would have been her scheduled breeze day this week, so diagnostics were performed. 

Her X-rays were clean, but a PET scan showed some light bone bruising. The recommended treatment is three weeks of just walking and at that point if everything checks out ok, she can slowly resume training. 

This is a frustrating setback for sure, but at this point it looks like a minor one. We’ll remain in frequent contact with the Baffert barn to monitor Seismic Beauty’s condition and recovery and report back with news as it comes to us.

Seismic Beauty Works - Appears it's a Pass on the Dogwood Stakes

Seismic Beauty worked a strong half mile in :48 flat this morning at Santa Anita Park. Trainer Bob Baffert was extremely pleased with today’s breeze. We’re still ironing out our next race target but will report back as soon as a plan is finalized.

Although the Dogwood Stakes at Churchill Downs was a potential target, it does not appear that Seismic Beauty has been entered. Not surprising since she's still on the West Coast, and the trip logistics probably didn't make sense at this time. With Santa Anita opening soon, our guess is she'll likely target a West Coast stakes if all goes well. 

Seismic Beauty Work and Possible Stakes Entry

Seismic Beauty had her first work back since her maiden victory yesterday morning at Del Mar, covering three furlongs in :36.20. In her solo drill, the daughter of Uncle Mo wasn’t asked for much and went easily throughout. 

With the Del Mar meet now closed, trainer Bob Baffert wasn’t looking for anything special and has been pleased with the filly since her race. Seismic Beauty has been nominated to the G3 Dogwood on September 21st at Churchill Downs, however that would require a ship across country and there will also be plenty of options as soon as the Santa Anita meet starts back at the end of the month. 

The Baffert barn is expected to ship back to Santa Anita in the coming days and we'll discuss plans with Bob once she returns.

Seismic Beauty Turns in a Huge Performance!

Seismic Beauty won her second start by a huge span of daylight in some very fast fractions today at Del Mar. So excited about this girl's performance. Dare we start to dream of the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies...or is it too soon to have our head in the clouds? :)

We'll follow up with the after race report when we receive it, but here's the race video. 

Seismic Beauty Update

Seismic Beauty is in great order out of her debut according to trainer Bob Baffert. She was spotted galloping this morning and will likely return to the work tab on either Friday or Saturday.

There are two maiden special weights in the final condition book at Del Mar; a six-furlong option on August 30th and a one-mile option on August 29th. Bob’s immediate reaction after the race was to sprint her back one time but we’ll see how she trains and let our Hall of Fame trainer make that final decision as we get closer.

Seismic Beauty Work Out Report and Possible Entry

Seismic Beauty breezed five furlongs from the gate again this morning at Del Mar. She was credited with a final time of :59.40.

Our daughter of Uncle Mo worked on the outside of her stablemate, breaking a step slow still but much better than last week. She powered down the stretch through the early part of this work, allowing her workmate to get on even terms into the turn and took over command in the later stages. 

Trainer Bob Baffert was extremely pleased, noting he is going to consider a six and one-half furlong maiden special weight on August 3rd for our filly. We’ll make sure she exits the work in good order but if everything continues well, the plan would be to enter on Wednesday for next Saturday. 

Seismic Beauty Work Out

Seismic Beauty breezed a half mile from the gate this morning at Del Mar under jockey Kazushi Kimura. She was credited with a final time of :46.20. (Her official time was slightly more, as you'll see below.)

Breaking on the outside of a stablemate, your daughter of Uncle Mo completely missed the break and spotted her workmate a few lengths. Once recovering, she switched to her correct lead near the wire and traveled well, gaining a bit of ground on her work partner. Though she was never able to get on even terms with her workmate, trainer Bob Baffert was still pleased with the effort. 

“I thought I had her more prepared from the gate. She’ll be much better next time,” he said.

We’ll expect to see her remain on a weekend work schedule pending everything remains in good order. 

In spite of not catching her work partner, Seismic Beauty turned in a very nice time for 4 furlongs.

Seismic Beauty Works a Bullet in Yesterday's Breeze

Seismic Beauty (Uncle Mo x Knarsdale by Medaglia d'Oro) breezed five furlongs in 1:00 flat yesterday for the bullet at Los Alamitos. She breezed by herself and did it very well, finishing up with good energy. Assistant Trainer Mike Marlow had her galloping out 6F in 1:14.40. It's very exciting to see this talented 3YO filly progressing the way she is, but she still has a few more tests ahead. With horses beginning to transition to Del Mar next week, we won't expect it to be too much longer before we see Seismic Beauty ship to Bob's main string.
