Coexist was CLAIMED off her third race and first win on 5/12/2023 at Churchill Downs in R5. She was our first partnership horse with Eclipse who we bought into as a yearling and saw her through training, taking her first step on a track and her first three races. Coexist was our first venture into a partnership. We became involved after she sold in the 2021 Keeneland September sale and was offered as a yearling by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners.

Status: Placed on rest after a suspensory injury in her first start in August 2022. Was not expected to return to the training until December 2022, at the earliest. Update received in November 2022 that she is going to Scooter (Byron) Hughes for assessment and continued training if her injury has healed.
Ran her first race back at KEENELAND on April 19, 2023 and made a very fast move in the late stretch after a disastrous trip to take 3rd. Ran back in her 3rd race at CHURCHILL DOWNS on May 12, 2023 and WON going away, but was claimed from us in a four-way shake. We attempted to claim her back in her next race (where she ran last) and lost in a 12-way shake. Her continuing race record is shown below.

One of our huge motivations for getting involved with this filly was that she was sired by the very talented Creative Cause, making her granddam the great Dream of Summer, who had been Laurie's dream horse in the early 2000s. Dream of Summer won multiple stakes races including the Grade 1 Apple Blossom, Grade 2 A Gleam Invitational Handicap and Grade 3 Rancho Bernardo Handicap, to name a few. She earned almost $1.2 million on the track, and her highest speed figure was 119--twice! The Dream of Summer Stakes, named in her honor, is run each June at Santa Anita Park.
Dream of Summer didn't have tremendous success as a broodmare until she was bred to the immortal Giant's Causeway (by Storm Cat). That magical cross produced top stakes horse and Triple Crown series contender Creative Cause (Coexist's sire), Destin (2nd in the Belmont Stakes, multiple stakes winner and New York sire), and Vexacious (multiple stakes winning filly).
Coexist's sire has produced many stakes horses, including My Boy Jack who ran in the Kentucky Derby and Creative Minister who ran in the 2022 Triple Crown races, and many other successful stakes horses.
My Boy Jack is actually a 3/4 sibling to Coexist, having the same sire and being out of Coexist's 2nd dam (also making him a half-sibling to her dam, Play for Gold).
