After another setback, a decision was made in her best interest to retire Fancy Quality from racing and to sell her in the Fasig-Tipton March Digital sale. She sold to an owner in Indiana. This concludes the Fancy Quality partnership, and her folder will be moved to the Past Horses section.
Sometimes the dream doesn't unfold. Fancy Quality was supposed to be Kenny McPeek's Derby Oaks filly last year in 2024, but she was never able to make her way down the Oaks prep trail. Instead, he won the Kentucky Oaks, multiple successive stakes and Horse of the Year with the spectactular filly, Thorpedo Anna, and meanwhile we had a run (and win!) of our own in the Preakness with Seize The Grey. Fancy Quality and Seize The Grey were both from our first MRH crop of yearlings.
We're forever grateful for the experience she gave us and the thrill of her massive close on the race course. Best wishes to our girl. We'll try to keep track of her and her offspring, going forward. As a daughter of the great UK stallion, Wootton Bassett, may she have many successes in her next career.

hand-selected this filly out of the Arqana Yearling Sale in
France, and has the confidence that she will be perfectly
suited to a successful career in the United States. McPeek
has a system for choosing superior racehorses, and is
responsible for finding exceptional horses such as Curlin,
Take Charge Lady and Swiss Skydiver.
McPeek anticipates this filly will not just have an aptitude
for turf, but will be suited to run on any surface. Early plans
are to point her toward the Kentucky Oaks (the Kentucky
Derby for fillies) in 2024. Follow-up note: Fancy Quality
did not make it to the Kentucky Oaks, but Kenny McPeek
won the Kentucky Derby/Oaks double that year (2024)
which has rarely been done in history. His Oaks winner --
Thorpedo Anna -- went on to become one of the best of
her crop with multiple G1 wins and places against the colts
and was named Champion 3YO Filly and Horse of the Year
for 2024.
