This handsome colt caught plenty of sharp eyes at OBS March. Trainer Todd Pletcher was excited to learn that the chestnut would be joining his stable, and another big-name trainer also reached out to throw his hat in the ring in case we hadn’t already picked out a conditioner.

For a refresher on Happy Saver’s career: He was a romping debut winner as a June sophomore in 2020, and was actually named a ‘TDN Rising Star’ by future MRH team member Brian DiDonato when stretching out to 9 furlongs at Saratoga and dominating again. The Wertheimer homebred continued to quickly climb the class ladder, and defeated older foes in just his fourth career start in the prestigious 1 1/4-mile G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup. He continued to rack up Grade 1 placings at four and five while facing superstars like Flightline, Life is Good and Maxfield before retiring with a bankroll of more than $1.25 million.

Our new colt has been enjoying some post-sale downtime at Top Line in Ocala, and will return to training next month with the tentative plan to join the Pletcher barn after a few weeks of getting back into the swing of things.
