A DAY TO REMEMBER for the WIN!!

Our American Pharoah son, A Day To Remember, won going away in his MSW at Santa Anita this holiday weekend. 

Due to setbacks, this was only his fourth start in two years, but we are so grateful for the training expertise of Mark Glatt and his team who got him to this point.

A Day to Remember - Entry

A Day to Remember has been entered for next Monday (Memorial Day) at Santa Anita, and drew post four in a field of only five carded as the holiday card's third race. Post time is 2:00 PM. PT / 3:00 PM MT.

A Day To Remember Update

A Day to Remember (American Pharoah) remains in good order since his return second-place effort and was spotted galloping this morning at Santa Anita Park. We would expect to see him back on the work tab towards the end of this week/weekend. 

While we don’t have a finalized race plan yet, we will likely point back to the identical condition (MSW sprinting on turf) which falls on May 26th. Trainer Mark Glatt still isn’t counting out the dirt in his future, but from a timing standpoint, the MSW on dirt comes up too soon on this Saturday and the next one he could potentially be ready for would likely not be until the second week of June.

A Day To Remember Returns for his Next Start

It's been a bit of a wait, but our son of American Pharoah is entered for his next start!

A Day to Remember Race Entry

A Day to Remember breezed five furlongs in 1:01.80 this past Saturday morning at Santa Anita Park. Our 4YO gelding transitioned to Santa Anita after his most recent work at San Luis Rey on April 9th and continues to train forwardly. 

Trainer Mark Glatt proceeded with entering him today for a six-furlong turf maiden special on Sunday, April 27th. 

A Day to Remember drew post 3 (of 10) in Sunday’s 9th race which has an approximate post time of 5:00 PM PT/6:00 PM MT.

A Day To Remember is Back with a Bullet

A Day to Remember recorded a bullet half-mile work yesterday morning at San Luis Rey Downs. He stopped the clock in :47.20 and is reportedly doing exceptionally well according to trainer Mark Glatt. 

A Day to Remember to likely have another two works at San Luis Rey before transitioning back to Santa Anita. 

Assuming all continues well, a return to the races in late April seems well in range.

A Day To Remember Runs 3rd

A Day To Remember ran a great race for his first start back after a very long layoff. It was fun to see him picked by almost everyone at FanDuel as the likely winner. He finished a game 3rd giving only 1/2 a length to the winner and finishing a head behind the 2nd place finisher, after running at or near the front for most of the race. Very game effort and he should do better next out with the added fitness from this race.

A Day To Remember Paddock Schools at Del Mar

A Day To Remember paddock schooled at Del Mar today, ahead of his 2024 debut on Friday. A Day To Remember has run once before, on 7/29/2023 at Del Mar. It was the same day Seize The Grey broke his maiden in his second start at Saratoga. We're hoping "Remy" can make up for lost time. 

Adaay in Asia also paddock schooled in the same group, but was not caught on camera. 

A Day To Remember Update

A Day to Remember had his final tune-up this morning ahead of Friday’s maiden special weight, absolutely cruising over the Seaside oval. Trainer Mark Glatt was extremely pleased stating, “He’s ready to roll.” 

Glatt had a solid opening weekend at Del Mar, winning three races including yesterday’s Wickerr S. 

Let's hope that momentum will carry into next week.

A Day To Remember is Entered

At long last, A Day To Remember has been entered to run at Del Mar on Friday. This info is as follows:

7/26/2024 FRIDAY - A DAY TO REMEMBER - Del Mar - MSW - 5F - R#4 - P#7/12 - Umberto Rispoli - 5:30 PM PT / 6:30 PM MT

Our American Pharoah colt has not run since July 29 of last year, which coincided with Seize The Grey's second start and first victory. We wish our boy well as he attempts to make up for lost time.

 

A Day To Remember Update

A Day to Remember breezed 5F in 1:02 flat Sunday morning over the training track.

Our son of American Pharoah worked solo as trainer Mark Glatt has this colt in maintenance mode leading up to the maiden special weight in July 26th he is targeting. If entered, it will mark nearly a year since he last ran in his debut race, placing 3rd. 

From a fitness standpoint, we knew he would be more than ready by this time to go five furlongs and the biggest priority is keeping him happy and healthy. A Day to Remember will have one or two more breezes leading up to the race.

A Day to Remember performed his first work in over 10 months, the last being on 7/22/2023 at Del Mar. Our son of American Pharoah's work info:

He has one start on 07/29/2023 in which he placed 3rd against a talented field including Heartland, a son of Justify who was designated as a "Rising Star" based on his performance that day.

A Day To Remember has Another Temporary Set Back

A Day to Remember, a son of American Pharoah, had to take a small step back in his training at Santa Anita Park just as he was approaching a full work tab at the track. Thankfully, there is nothing major going on with him, but Mark Glatt thought our son of American Pharoah was just not 100% in his hind left. This is the same leg that was troublesome and led to his turn out following his debut last summer. 

Knowing we gave him plenty of time off at the farm, Mark felt fairly confident it wasn’t a recurrence but opted to run him through a nuc scan as a precaution. While the scan returned normal he did have some light up/uptake on his tibia which probably explains the "off" that Mark was seeing. 

This is not uncommon with horses coming off of a layoff, especially younger horses like A Day To Remember. It will require a little more patience, but the horse will not have to leave training in the meantime. Mark will jog him for a few weeks and hopefully things can pick back up from there.

A Day to Remember was spotted galloping this morning at Santa Anita Park. Our son of American Pharoah is thriving at the moment and trainer Mark Glatt couldn’t be happier with him. While his schedule isn’t penciled in, we expect to see him pick up with some speed work next week.

A Day To Remember Update

Trainer Mark Glatt has been happy with our son of American Pharoah who continues to jog daily. 

With weather expected this week and next week in the Arcadia area, our colt will likely transition to galloping in the coming 10 days pending track conditions.

We look forward to the 2024 debut for our now 3YO son of American Pharoah.

A Day To Remember Update!

Our American Pharoah son is back in the Glatt barn at Santa Anita Park and preparing to go back into training. He ran an impressive 3rd upon debut (to a TDN Rising Star!), the same day that Seize The Grey won his 2nd start at Saratoga over Dornoch.

2024 is certainly firming up to be an exciting year! 

A Day To Remember: Follow Up Report

 We are pleased to report that A Day to Remember safely arrived at Santa Anita yesterday and looks well following his additional time at Sunshine Farm. The Glatt barn will gradually get him back on the track and we will follow up on his progress over the coming weeks.

A Day to Remember (previously known as "Kindle 21") remains in good order at Sunshine Farm in Bradbury, Ca. Our 2-year-old colt will be targeting an early to mid-December return to Santa Anita. He has been a happy camper during his break.

More on A Day To Remember's Race

I think poor A Day To Remember ("Remy") got sold a little short with all the hoopla about Seize The Grey.

Remi ran the same day as Seize The Grey and finished 3rd. He actually had a very good race--and had the BEST debut of any of our 2YOs to date!

He was in the lead or just off it for most of the race, but tired in the late stretch and faded to 2nd. Then Heartland (you might want to remember that name) came up the rail like an express train to win it.

Heartland is trained by Bob Baffert and is probably one of the most talked about 2YOs in the country right now and was named a TDN Rising Star. Remy had some tough competition! But he earned a 73 Equibase figure which is very good for a first timer and we expect he'll be a monster in one of his next starts.

Weekend Recap

There's nothing quite like the excitement and prestige of owning a Saratoga 2-year-old maiden special weight winner, and MyRacehorse partners got to experience that thrill on Saturday when Seize the Grey dueled and drew off to a convincing victory over a stacked field that included a buzzed-about full-brother to Derby winner Mage and plenty of other pricey and well-bred colts. 

After Seize the Grey's admittedly disappointing debut at Ellis last month, legendary Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas said we could expect a much better effort from the son of Arrogate next time, and that assessment proved right on the money. 

MyRacehorse was also represented by a promising juvenile on the left coast Saturday as Mark Glatt pupil A Day to Remember checked in third after pressing the pace at Del Mar. The handsome son of American Pharoah showed good early speed and figures to step forward next time with the experience under his belt and more ground to work with.
