Woohoo! We said Simply Enchanting's next start might be auspicious, but this was a curve even WE didn't see coming!
SIMPLY ENCHANTING HAS BEEN ENTERED IN THE SUNLAND OAKS RIGHT HERE IN NEW MEXICO NEXT SUNDAY. FEBRUARY 17th!
The field is small but notable, including entries by Steven Asmussen and New Mexico's own Todd Fincher, who also trains Senor Buscador.
Plans, of course, could change, but based on her spectacular debut, trainer Phil D'Amato intends to put her on the Kentucky Oaks trail.
We're very excited with this development and will keep you posted.
Simply Enchanting Race Entry
Following our workout report, Simply Enchanting was officially entered in Sunday’s Sunland Park Oaks going one flat mile on the dirt. Breaking from post 2 in a 6-horse field, jockey Antonio Fresu will return in the irons. The daughter of Nyquist has been slated as the third-choice with odds of 7-2.
The Sunland Park Oaks has been carded as the 7th race of the day with a post time of 3:13 p.m. MT. We will report back with our race overview and race-day lottery in the coming days.
