Having Simply Enchanting come to the Land of Enchantment for her second start was quite a treat, and we were even able to attend this one in person!
Simply Enchanting ran an admirable race considering everything that was thrown at her on her 2nd start - winning and stakes winning competition, unfamiliar track, deeper surface, higher altitude, and longer distance than her first race by 4 furlongs - half a mile!
She ran 2nd until the second turn, even getting her nose in front at one point, but she was caught by the eventual winner on the turn and squeezed out of position. Antonio Fresu took her to the outside, but she had lost some ground and was unable to catch the two horses dueling for the lead. Still she never stopped running and put in a valiant effort trying to close the distance.
We're so proud of what she was able to overcome and accomplish. I'm sure it was a great learning experience for her, and will improve her fitness for the next out. Earning six points, she's currently ranked at #30 on the Kentucky Oaks leader board which wouldn't currently get her into the gate, but there's still time to earn additional points if she continues to improve.
