In a Q&A with manager Joe Duran this morning at the Ocala Showcase, he said that expectations are high for Secret Crush's debut, but that our 3YO son of Candy Ride will be facing a lot of firsts today. This will be his first experience with a possible wait in the starting gate, breaking with 11 other horses, having dirt kicked in his face for the first time, and having to negotiate traffic on the backstretch, turn and home stretch.
Though he's been training with stakes caliber horses and the talented debut winner, Refuel, everything may depend on how he breaks. To his advantage he has one of the top trainers and top jockeys in the business with a knack for getting horses home first.
As always, our main hope as owners is that he has a safe race first, and secondly, a productive one!
