Following additional conversations with our resident vet Dr. Jeffery Berk and Dr. Andrew Smith of Peterson and Smith it was recommended to have a procedure performed on Blue Devil that will require a small incision, but is expected to heal quickly and have no complications.
While it’s disappointing news that he will require additional time off following the procedure, it is nothing major. Following six weeks of stall rest and hand walking, Blue Devil will be re-examined and have an ultrasound performed. At that time, we are hopeful he will receive the green light to resume training. We are looking at approximately early June to receive the go ahead.
Our team will be back in Ocala beginning next week and we plan on following up with both Blue Devil and Dr. Berk at that time.
