Seize the Grey, our strapping son of Arrogate, will take on 11 other challengers as he vies for 100 Kentucky Derby points in the G3 Jeff Ruby. As the first-ever MyRacehorse runner to join Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas's barn, he has taken his owners on an incredible and sometimes surprising ride.
He's coming off of a dominant first-level allowance win at Oaklawn Park and has been training "lights out" according to the Lukas team. Though he will be facing stiff competition, Seize the Grey knows a thing or two about pulling off upsets. It was Seize the Grey who belied 16-1 odds when besting Dornoch, one of the current favorites for the Kentucky Derby, last summer at Saratoga in only his second start.
Horses who do well in the Jeff Ruby have gone on to make major impacts in the Kentucky Derby as of recent years. In fact, the 2022 Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike finished fourth in this race. Last year's Kentucky Derby runner-up Two Phil's won the Jeff Ruby last year.
Post time is 6:25 PM ET / 4:25 PM MT this Saturday, so please join us in cheering on Seize the Grey and his owners!
