BIG UPDATE FOR SEIZE THE GREY

Seize the Grey breezed five furlongs in 1:01.20 on Monday morning at Oaklawn Park. As we all know, the talk of Derby has been very exciting and we now have a new update and timeline for our colt.

After discussions with Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas, he has decided the best option is to bypass the Hot Springs Mile at Oaklawn Park and instead target a Kentucky Derby prep, the G3 Jeff Ruby Steaks, at Turfway Park on March 23rd.

This decision stems from how well our son of Arrogate has been training in the mornings and ‘The Coach’ feels he will handle the Turfway Park track well. It’s the best spot for us to get into the Kentucky Derby. The winner earns 100 Derby points and second place gets 50. Seize the Grey will need to run either first or second in order to “guarantee” a spot in the starting gate on the first Saturday in May. This will give him one final work in between and we will follow up with the Lukas barn in the coming days.
