Can You Believe It!!!!
Congratulations to all Seize the Grey owners on an absolutely incredible win in today’s Pat Day Mile! It truly doesn’t get better than winning on the biggest day in racing. We want to thank all parties involved, trainer D. Wayne Lukas, assistant Sebastian "Bas" Nicholl, jockey Jamie Torres, Ciaran Dunne and Highlander Trainer Center. More to come!
Follow-up Congratulations from MRH:
Congrats again on a thrilling victory today on the big stage today by Seize the Grey!
He could not have shown more heart and determination attending a hot pace and holding on late in the G2 Pat Day Mile. We expected strong early splits, but did not expect to see Seize the Grey right in the thick of things from the bell. He did drop back a bit entering the bend to sit in fifth, but wasn’t done yet. He attempted to tip out and squeeze through a seam at the head of the lane, but when that hole closed up he and jockey Jaime Torres dove to the inside. Seize the Grey leveled off nicely from there, pulling clear late to prevail by 1 1/4 lengths and earn $348,300 and his first graded stakes victory.
Never one to pump the brakes and shy away from a big spot, trainer D. Wayne Lukas said immediately after the race that he would strongly consider Seize the Grey for the G1 Preakness in two weeks. We'll of course have to see how the colt comes out of today’s effort before making any firm decisions.
It was a tough and much-debated decision as to whether or not to roll the dice and hope to draw into the Kentucky Derby or take the route we did, but considering we ultimately wouldn’t have gotten into the Derby, we’re elated that it all worked out and we were all able to celebrate a giant win on racing’s biggest day.

Seize the Grey bounced out of yesterday’s thrilling victory in excellent order according to “The Coach.” Your colt received a career-best 88 Beyer Speed Figure.
The Coach still has his eye set on the Preakness but we will enjoy this victory for the moment and see how Seize the Grey looks once returning to the track.
