Breaking sharply from the gate, Luis Saez had a tactical position early on behind the leaders and traveled comfortably down the backstretch in 4th position just behind the three leaders. Unfortunately, Lady Blitz lost momentum on the turn and was never able to excel when needed at any point in the race. She was squeezed between a horse shifting outward from the rail, and an outside horse shifting inward, and was checked hard. She never recovered prior to the finish.
Todd Pletcher discussed the outcome with the MRH team following the race. Both Todd and Luis felt she was not comfortable on the turf and we will now look at a race back on the dirt.
