Definitely not what we anticipated, but Nakoma exited her breeze last week with some swelling in her front fetlock and will require some time off from training. X-rays revealed a troubling area, but at this time it does not require surgery or further treatment other than 30 days of stall rest at the farm in Ocala. She will then be X-rayed a second time to ensure all is well. We'll report back after the check-up.
This is, of course, disappointing, because she was doing so well in her training, but the welfare of the horse must ALWAYS be the first concern. Also, as we've seen so often, a little time-out from training can often be a blessing in disguise.
Have a great "vacation," Nakoma.
