Fireball Birdie Race Result and Claim

Fireball Birdie finished off the board today (7th) in the last race at Oaklawn Park and was claimed for the $40K tag by trainer Tom Amoss.

He sat in a good spot early while saving ground, but was bottled up pretty badly around the turn for home and had to hit the brakes. A seam opened up down on the fence, but Fireball Birdie just didn’t have enough kick in the lane.

This was, of course, a disappointing outcome, but even with tough trips in his last two it seems as though he had lost form since his races at Remington.

Fireball Birdie wrapped up his time with us with the following record:

StartsFirstsSecondsThirdsEarnings
13230$72,364

His best Equibase speed figure was a 98 which he earned at Remington Park in September 2024.

We will of course keep close tabs on him moving forward, and our accounting team will begin working on his series closure.

As with all horses who leave our stable, we'll be marking his page (above) as CLAIMED and moving him to the bottom with our other previous horses. We will report back when we get any additional updates.

  1. I understand that the racetrack vet voided the claim due to lameness in the left front foot.

    1. That’s correct, however we received a follow-up that he was evaluated after the voided claim and no lameness or other issues were found. He is expected to perform a work soon to be removed from the vets list.
