Simply Enchanting Runs a Game 2nd Off Layoff

It was a great comeback effort from your daughter of Nyquist this afternoon at Churchill Downs, as Simply Enchanting ran a game 2nd. 

She broke very well under Flavien Prat and was much closer early than expected, which ended up being key. We anticipated a more crowded early pace with the number of horses stretching out, but the running order changed little after horses established their positions. 

Heading into the far turn, Flavien asked Simply Enchanting to pick it up, but the eventual winner #6 Miss Justify was full of run on the lead. While she could not contest the winner, Simply Enchanting received a big challenge from #11 Mink’s Palace and fended her off, separating by a length from the eventual third-place finisher.

Trainer Phil D’Amato was very happy with our filly's performance and believes she will only improve off this. We will likely get her back around two turns next time out, and if everything continues in good order out of this race we should be able to get another run in before the Churchill Downs meet ends.
