Several of our 2YOs are already at the track with their trainers or already racing, but not all mature at the same rate. Here are two of our very promising youngsters who are still at Wavertree at various points in the training process.
Simply Enchanting (by Kentucky Derby winner, Nyquist) had to be rested for over 30 days due to a rapid growth phase she went through. In order to reduce stress to her joints and muscles, she was taken off training until her body "could catch up with her." Simply Enchanting has now started back under saddle and is jogging the shed row for the time being. Her exercise regimen will gradually be increased until she is galloping and doing speed works again. Here's a screen shot of Simply Enchanting jogging in the shed row at Wavertree on July 13th.
Secret Crush also had some physical setbacks that required a bit of R&R. He is now back galloping a mile on the track at Wavertree in company. Here's a recent photo from July 13th of one of his works. Secret Crush is the son of top sire Candy Ride out of Elarose (Storm Cat x Take Charge Lady). With his stellar pedigree we're glad he is being given all the time he needs to mature and prepare for his future career.
