Status Reports on Secret Crush and One Last Night '21

We have status updates on two of our 2YOs currently located in Ocala, Florida.

One Last Night '21 (Wootton Bassett)

We received a video update on One Last Night '21 who has grown and matured significantly in the last several weeks. Assistant Trainer Sean Charlton at Silver Leaf Hills near Ocala, FL commented that "everything's going right with her so far," and the 2YO filly "has grown up and blossomed and matured a whole lot..."

One Last Night '21 will start back on her training on May 26th.

Secret Crush

We received a walking video and a photo update (below) on Secret  from Wavertree Farms this morning. Secret Crush has also matured quite a bit physically in recent weeks. He'll be evaluated in about three weeks to determine the next step in his prep and training.

Lady Blitz Headed North After 2nd Work

Lady Blitz is on the move again.

She had her second breeze at Palm Beach Downs on Friday morning, covering three-furlongs in 38.04 seconds (3/7). Our 2-year-old partnership filly worked with Appellate, a 2-year-old daughter of Constitution. ($250,000 at last year's Keeneland Yearling Sale.)

With tracks in the northeast preparing for their spring and summer meets, horses are leaving South Florida and moving north. Lady Blitz departed Palm Beach Downs this morning and is en route to Monmouth Park (NJ) where she will continue to develop towards her career debut.

Here's a photo of her in her transport.

Lane Way Heads Back to the Farm

Lane Way is ending his vacation to head back to the farm and will hopefully resume training soon. So excited to see what's ahead for this stakes winner after enjoying a little R and R.

A few partners are speculating he may be ready in time for the Del Mar meet.

He's trained by Richard Mandella.

Coexist Video of Keeneland R3 on 4-19-2023

We were able to locate Coexist's race last Wednesday on the Bloodhorse site. Sadly, her remarkable move from 8th to 3rd in just a few strides is mostly off camera due to the focus on the front two leaders, but you can see her troubled trip--breaking near the back, getting stopped behind another horse before the turn and running near the back of the pack coming into the stretch.

She really pulled off a coup with that stretch run!

It's also interesting to note those who saw the race reported she caught the leaders a few strides past the wire. So proud of her!

Here's the link:  Keeneland R3 04-19-2023

Coexist is Good to Go!

GREAT NEWS!

Aron has informed us that Coexist came out of her last rather troubled race in great shape, and no worse the wear for her absolute MONSTER effort in the stretch. That was followed up by a voice mail from another staff member reiterating that they were all super encouraged by Coexist's effort and are scouting for a good spot for her next start.

It's difficult to explain what it means to place in a race at Keeneland, but it's pretty major.

We'll keep you posted on any further updates.

Lane Way Kicking Up his Heels While on Break

Our newest acquisition, Lane Way, is enjoying a bit of time off from his racing duties in southern California. We were recently provided a video where the 5YO horse was rolling, running and kicking up his heels, appearing to have a great time in his grassy pasture.

We can't share the video to social media, but here are a few screen shots of our partnership horse as he romped and frolicked.

Enjoy your vacation, Lane Way. We're looking forward to your return!

Lady Blitz Has Unofficial Work in Company

Lady Blitz had an unofficial (not recorded) work in company from the gate under trainer Todd Pletcher at Palm Beach Downs this morning. She appeared to break very well from the gate and get a bit of distance on her work partner before her rider slowed her down.

This will help provide a good foundation for her when she heads north to Saratoga soon.

A video was provided to the partnership, but unfortunately, we are not able to share it to social media.

Seize The Grey's Sire Elected to Racing Hall of Fame

Seize the Grey’s sire Arrogate was elected to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame Tuesday morning.

The son of Unbridled’s Song is still the highest earner for a horse with at least one start in North America with a total of $17,422,600 following his wins in the Breeders’ Cup Classic, the Pegasus World Cup, and the Dubai World Cup.

We’re pleased to have Seize the Grey in our stable. He will be joining the barn of Hall-of Famer D. Wayne Lukas very soon.

Guinevere Runs First 4F Work at Keeneland This Morning

Guinevere ran her first official work at 4F this morning at Keeneland on dirt. As expected, the work was moderate for her first at the track. Very excited to see what lies ahead for this wonderful filly trained by Wesley Ward.

Lane Way - New Acquisition

With Magical Ways being claimed last Friday, April 21, 2023, we sought out a new horse to add to our partnership stable and were able to acquire this stakes winning, multiple stakes placed son of top sire, Into Mischief.

Lane Way is a 5YO gelding who's regular jockey is Mike Smith. We hope he still has many good days of racing ahead of him. If so, this is going to be an exciting ride.

Lady Blitz Impresses

Lady Blitz had her first unofficial work for trainer Todd Pletcher and he was apparently impressed with what he saw and her professionalism.

Lady Blitz has been the class star of our 2YOs, so we're not surprised, but very pleased to hear she's settling in well at the Pletcher barn at Palm Beach Downs, where Derby hopeful Forte and Eclipse star Nest are also training.

She'll be shipping north to Saratoga soon.

Just keep doing what you do, Lady Blitz!

The Royal Duet has SOLD OUT!!!!

The Royal Duet pairing of Guinevere (originally San Saria '21) and La Cuvee '21 has just SOLD OUT!!!!

Congrats to all the partners! Very exciting pair trained by Wesley Ward. On to Royal Ascot!

Magical Ways WINS!!!

Magical Wins had a decisive win today in the fourth race at Aqueduct. He broke and ran with the front runners, then pulled away coming out of the turn and continued to increase his margin until late stretch, when another horse began closing but was no match for our Maclean's Music son.

Here's the race. (This is from a full day of racing at Aqueduct but should begin just as the horses come out onto the track. As you'll see, one of the announcers was not very complimentary toward Magical Ways.)

But his wonderful performance came with a bit of a sting.

Magical Ways was claimed out of the race, and has now left our stable. :'(

We understand there was a four-way shake for the claim (meaning four different entities wanted to claim him at a claiming price of $40,000), so he was very much in demand. Maybe, in hindsight, he was dropped a little too low in class off his four Maiden Special Weight starts, with a place in one, but there's no sense second-guessing that decision now. Still, it worth noting that top jockey Junior Avarado was in the irons for the first time and this was Magical Ways first race on a dry track at Aqueduct.

We're very sorry to see our "Magic" go. He was one of the first horses we bought into in the MRH stable. We wish him all the best for his future.

We'll be archiving his page in the next few weeks, and have thoroughly enjoyed the ride he took us on, especially this dominating closing victory. What a thrill!

We'd hoped to have a wall of these win photos
before this guy moved on, but at least we have one.
Congrats and farewell to Magical Ways. (Claimed)

The partnership congratulates Magical Ways on his decisive win
...and then says goodbye. (We were not present in NY to be in the photo.)

The Royal Duert - La Cuvee '21 Update

La Cuvee ’21 has settled in nicely at Keeneland and had his first day of training on the training track this morning.

After receiving a few days of hand-walking following his arrival, our Cotai Glory son had plenty of energy and spunk on the track.

Against All Odds -- Coexist Runs 3rd!

Coexist did not have a good trip in her race today. She broke late, got stuck behind a horse on the rail and had to be shuffled back to 9th before the turn, then came in to the stretch running in about 8th.

Somehow, miraculously, she went all sports car and starting passing horses to capture 3rd just before the wire! (I seriously had to play back the race 5 times, and I still don't know how she did it!)

Not only that, we got a report she caught the leaders a few jumps past the finish and galloped out like a champ.

Coe has not had a great start to her career but we really saw some run in her today. The report from Aron was also very encouraging. She has definitely answered the question if she wants to be a racehorse.

Provided she came back in good order from the race, we look forward to seeing what she can do in her next start.

The Royal Duet - Guinevere has arrived at Keeneland

Guinevere (Justify x San Saria) has arrived safely at Keeneland where trainer Wesley Ward can keep a close eye on her development. Here's a screenshot from a recent video from Wesley Ward.

Mo Temptation - Sire Update

Things are getting exciting for Mo Temptation, our Mo Town filly. Mo Town is a young son of Uncle Mo who has had his first two graded stakes winners in the last ten days--Mo Stash winning the G3 Transylvania and Key of Life just winning the G2 Beaumont--both leading gate-to-wire. I believe they are Mo Town's first crop. Mo Temptation is currently in training in Doug O'Neill's barn at San Luis Rey Downs Training Site in California.

Magical Ways Entry

Magical Ways had a solid half-mile maintenance breeze this morning at Belmont Park, covering the four furlongs over the training track in 49.84 seconds (42/87).

Our 4-year-old colt may also have an out on Friday, April 21st at Aqueduct. Magical Ways was entered in the 4th, a MCL at 1 mile in distance. He drew post 4 (out of 7) with Junior Alvarado aboard. Post time will be 2:56 p.m. ET.

The Royal Duet Heads to Keeneland

Change of plans for the Royal Duet duo. Both are now being shipped to Keeneland and Guinevere is looking at a possible early- to mid-May debut, depending if she continues to rapidly progress with her training. La Cuvee '21 (the colt part of the duo) is going to be pointed at a later debut either at Keeneland or Belmont.

Lady Blitz at Todd Pletcher's Palm Beach Downs Barn

Lady Blitz has arrived safely at Todd Pletcher’s barn at Palm Beach Downs.

Our 2-year-old Audible filly will be allowed to acclimate to her new surroundings, but it shouldn’t be long before she's back to a normal training schedule.

We wish her all the best as she begins this next big stage of her career. She was definitely her training class valedictorian!

The Royal Duet - La Cuvee '21 Update

La Cuvee ’21 remains in good order as he continues to gallop at Payson Park.

Trainer Wesley Ward will now be based at Keeneland full-time and therefore decided to move the colt with the rest of his string. Our 2-year-old partnership colt will arrive in Keeneland before the end of the week and pending everything continues well, he will have his first speed work back in 3 to 5 weeks.

Song of the Lark '21 Update

Last month, our Uncle Mo-Song of the Lark '21 colt was given some additional rest time after x-rays showed his knees had not yet fully closed.

We received an update today that farm trainer Keith Asmussen reported Song of the Lark '21 remains in good order down in Laredo, Texas and he has been put into training. Keith will again x-ray the colt's knees soon, but expects to see them mostly--if not completely--closed at this point.

The colt's actual second birthday is next month on May 15th, so it was not unexpected that his knees had not closed as of last month.

Magical Ways Update

Magical Ways breezed a half-mile on Saturday morning at Belmont Park, covering the four furlongs in 50.85 seconds (183/286) over the training track. The son of Maclean’s Music worked in company with stablemate Mercante, a 3–year-old son of Gun Runner who is entered in a maiden special weight at Aqueduct on Apr. 13.

The 4-year-old colt is doing well and trainer Bill Mott is expecting an extra to be available for him shortly as the race on Apr. 6 ($40,000 maiden claiming / six furlongs dirt) did not fill. He will be entered as soon as Aqueduct writes a similar race.

The Royal Duet - San Saria '21 will be Registered as Guinevere

Because of her accelerated schedule, we were only given three names to vote on, and even then it had to go to a second round between Guinevere and Just Dangerous.

She'll be registered as Guinevere. Not our first choice, but it is a name fit for a queen. :)

Legitify Galloping Again

Legitify went out for a gallop this past weekend at Wavertree in Ocala, Florida. Farm trainer Ciaran Dunne expects the colt to be back breezing in about 2-3 weeks' time.

Mo Temptation's Sire Scores his First Graded Stakes Winner!

Mo Town, young sire of our filly Mo Temptation, just had his first graded stakes winner on April 7th in the Transylvania Stakes (G3) at Keeneland with Mo Stash.

Mo Stash and another Mo Town son, Curly Larry and Mo, also ran in the G1 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf last fall and were the leaders running 1-2 into the stretch until being caught by other horses. Mo Stash finished on the board in 4th in that race.

Good things happening for Mo Town, and we hope Mo Temptation will add to his accomplishments once she starts running.

Bon Voyage, Lady Blitz!

(We don't really believe in astrology, but thought this was interesting.)

An auspicious day for new beginnings as Lady Blitz makes her journey to Todd Pletcher's barn. "The Luckiest Day of the Year" and alignments which influence "good luck, fortunate circumstances, expansion, optimism and a feeling of hope," adding "joy, faith and growth," with "new beginnings, determination, drive and courage added to the mix."

Simply Enchanting's Update/Trainer Named Leading Trainer

We want to congratulate Simply Enchanting’s (future) trainer Phil D’Amato for being named Leading Trainer at the Santa Anita Classic Meet!

He had a total of 32 wins--including 6 graded stakes victories! This is his third consecutive title for the Classic meet (formerly called the winter-spring meet) and his fourth overall at Santa Anita.

Simply Enchanting (Nyquist x Enchante) will be in very good hands when she leaves the training farm in Ocala for Phil D'Amato's barn in California in just a few weeks!

Her latest update today said:

Simply Enchanting worked an easy three furlongs on Friday morning at Wavertree in Ocala, Florida alongside her stablemate (Uncle Mo-Knarsdale filly).Trainer Ciaran Dunne wasn't asking much of the fillies during this workout, wanting them to go each furlong in about 14 seconds, which they accomplished with ease. This week Simply Enchanting will be asked to pick up the pace a bit and if all goes well with her next few workouts, she'll be a candidate to ship out to Phil D'Amato's Santa Anita barn right around early-mid May.

Coexist Logs Fastest 4F Work Ever

Coexist worked this morning on the dirt surface at The Thoroughbred Training Center for her fastest work at 4F yet! (Although her time may not appear blistering, this track runs slower than other surfaces, so her time appears to be very respectable and the 5th fastest time of 15 works at 49 flat.)

Our guess is she's being sharpened up for her potential race on the 23rd, now only 12 days away!

Legitify is the Registered Name of Sarrocchi '21

We've been sitting on this announcement for a while pending it hitting Equibase, but as of this today, his "official" name still hasn't been updated on the site. We're confident this name has been accepted by the AJC, it's just taking time for it to process through to Equibase.

We've made a decision to make the changes on this site for all past tags to Sarrocchi '21 and update them to Legitify, including his tab at the top of the page.

Lady Blitz is Shipping to Todd Pletcher

Big news! Our first 2YOs is ready to ship to her trainer. Our "class star" Lady Blitz will ship out to her trainer in the morning, Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

A statement from the managers said, in part: "Graduation Day. We have some very exciting news to share with you about Lady Blitz. After her work on Friday morning at Wavertree in Ocala, farm trainer Ciaran Dunne gave the green light for the filly to ship out to her official trainer..." and "...it's been quite amazing to see her handle the early breaking and training process with such ease and energy. We so look forward to see how she progresses now with Todd." Lady Blitz will go to Todd Pletcher's barn at Palm Beach Downs.

It will still be some time before she's ready to debut, but if all goes well, we're probably looking at a late summer debut at Belmont or Saratoga. We're excited to see her take this huge first step in her career.

Two more of our 2YOs are also getting close to shipping--probably in the next few weeks. This is a little bittersweet for us, because this class of five 2YOs -- Lady Blitz, Seize The Grey, Simply Enchanting, Secret Crush, Legitify and Kindle '21 -- will never be together again, as they have been at Wavertree in Ocala over the winter, but we're so appreciative of the fantastic foundation Lady Blitz and the others have received.

In light of this development, we wanted to share some of our favorite photos of Lady Blitz at Wavertree and at the Ocala 2YO Showcase in February that we attended. We wish this talented girl every success in her coming career.

Coexist Performs Best Time Yet for 4F

This is Coexist's best time yet for 4 furlongs, and we're encouraged by the time and eagerly awaiting the update by her trainer and/or managing partners.

Although the time doesn't appear to be fast, we've been informed the training track where she performs her work outs is known for having times that are on the slow side. Even so, it's her fastest 4f yet.

We're encouraged as she prepares for her 2023 debut, anticipated to be at Keeneland on dirt later this month.

Magical Ways Work

Magical Ways remained on schedule and breezed a half-mile on Friday morning in 48.48 (15/130) at Belmont Park.

For the second consecutive week, the 4-year-old colt worked in company with stablemate Victory Way.

There are a handful of race options during the month of April in the current Aqueduct condition book and we'll let you know once a specific race has been finalized.

Mo Temptation - Update

Mo Temptation is moving along in the right direction at San Luis Rey training center. Our 3-year-old partnership filly is currently jogging daily and will begin galloping in the coming weeks when the Doug O’Neill team feels she is ready. Here's a screenshot from a video of her jog at Santa Anita yesterday morning.
